EducaTIFF – the media and literacy programme for young audience premiered in 2009, during the 8th edition of Transilvania International Film Festival, with the aim to (re)light the passion of young and very young people for the great magic machinery called cinema and to influence the first important steps towards a consistent school curriculum for media literacy in Romania. By developing EducaTIFF, TIFF is committed to foster a literate children and teenagers cinema audience in Romania and has firmly enlisted alongside other similar European projects.
In 2012, EducaTIFF was extended outside Transilvania International Film Festival, with film screenings programmed for specific student age groups in Cluj-Napoca, Sibiu and Bucharest. This year, EducaTIFF has been included in TIFF Sibiu and TIFF Miercurea Ciuc festivals program. In the period 14th -18th of August, the young people from Biertan will be invited in the fantastic world of cinema, during the “Full Moon” Horror and Fantasy Film Festival. EducaTIFF in Biertan will represent a special occasion for children to participate at film screenings and film workshops in their village, where they will learn to make their own short animation films. The Cinema has the gift to activate the children’s big desire for knowledge and inspire their spirit and their imagination. Every child deserves a cinematographic experience! EducaTIFF takes place between 15 and 17 of August, in the local school.
