Between 16th and 19th of August 2012, in Biertan, Sibiu County, will take place the first edition of "FULL MOON", the only film festival in Romania focused exclusively on horror and fantasy cinema.
Organized by Romanian Film Promotion and presented by Transilvania International Film Festival, "FULL MOON" wishes to offer the Romanian audiences the best horror and fantasy films around, both classic and modern, films which have either become – or are about to – landmarks of genre cinema.
Biertan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biertan) is one of the first German settlements in Transylvania (1283), situated in a hilly area, 25km away from Sighisoara and Medias. As if it has been made for open air screenings, Biertan boasts a central square watched over by a gorgeous fortified church, an architectural work of genius protected by UNESCO (http://www.beel-online.com/Biertan.html).
The screenings will take place into two open air cinemas and a traditional, indoor auditorium. Besides the traditional boarding houses in the area, the filmgoers will have at their disposal a modern camping, while the festival "headquarters" will be in the Central Square where people will find a fair focused on food and hand-made objects.
The first edition of the Full Moon Festival wishes to be a non-competitive showcase highlighting the freshest cinematic styles employed by the horror and fantasy genres.
An independently financed project, „Full Moon” – Horror & Fantasy Film Festival wishes to become a full fledged member of the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation (EFFFF) and, consequently, to put Romania on the European horror & fantasy film festivals map. EFFFF is financed via the MEDIA programme of the EU with the sole purpose of promoting the originality and creativity of the European horror & fantasy cinema.
